Earth Day 2012 is on April 22nd and if you’re looking for an easy way to wave your eco-friendly flag, you’ll find us doing our part to save the planet by growing gem-quality lab-created colorless and fancy yellow color diamonds using only modest amounts of energy with little environmental impact. Mined diamonds require the removal of 1 ton of earth in order to produce less than 1 carat of diamond. Leave the diamond-creating to us though, and instead, have some fun with one of these Earth Day projects.
- Films: What better way to get inspired and help spread the eco-conscious word, than by hosting an Earth Day Film Fest for family and friends. Now playing? Disney’s Oceans, Al Gore’s Oscar-winning An Inconvenient Truth and that hilariously epic climate change blockbuster, The Day After Tomorrow.
- Food: Whip up some eco-lovin’ from the oven, featuring organically grown produce and sustainably harvested fish, for the ones you love. Do your part for the planet by shopping at local farmers’ markets and cooking with seasonal foods. When deciding beer or wine for the meal, remember…refrigeration plays a key role in greenhouse gas emissions. Wine edges out beer as the greener beverage of choice since beer is stored in the refrigerated section of stores more often than wine.
- Fashion: Grab your girlfriends and shop (sustainably) ‘til you drop. Major chains like H & M and designers like Stella McCartney and John Patrick of Organic, are heeding the call for good-looking, doing-good, green garb. By making clothing out of environmentally sensitive fabrics and choosing responsible production methods that reduce carbon footprints, it’s easier than ever to look stylish while putting environmental and social responsibility first.
See? It’s easy – fun, flavorful and fashionable – being green.
