Lab-created diamonds are unique in that they are actually diamonds, with identical physical, chemical and optical characteristics to natural diamonds. Simulants – cubic zirconia, moissanite and the like – are not real diamonds as they have completely different properties when compared to mined diamonds.

Diamonds are either mined or lab-created. Lab-created diamonds – made by a crystal growth process, atom by atom, the same as in nature – possess the same exceptional cut, color and clarity as high-quality mined diamonds. Simulants are made artificially, by chemical synthesis – the formation of compounds through one or more chemical reactions – and are therefore not real diamonds.
