Raymond R. Baker, Director of Manufacturing Excellence

Ray graduated from Worcester Polytechnic Institute with a BS in Mechanical Engineering and a Master’s Degree in Management Science and Engineering. From 1989 to 2005 he held various positions with Uvex Safety Manufacturing Inc. ranging from Director of Manufacturing to Senior VP and General Manager, and eventually as VP of Global Operations. During this time he managed all manufacturing and sourcing operations globally for the $125 million Eye and Face business unit. This included a 250 person manufacturing facility in Rhode Island and a small 25 person FDA regulated facility in Wisconsin. Ray was responsible for developing international sourcing and manufacturing relationships in Asia, Mexico, Tunisia, Slovakia and Western Europe. Prior to joining Gemesis, Ray provided technical management services to Avon Protection Systems in Michigan. He managed the design and installation of a $5.5 million automated assembly line for proprietary products for the US Military Joint Forces. Ray has a strong background in P&L management, automation, plant expansion and years of experience in lean manufacturing. He earned his Six Sigma Green Belt and Black Belt from Villanova University.
